Professor Lin holds three degrees (B.A., M.F.A. and Ph.D.) and is a Visiting Research Fellow of ULITA-An Archive of International Textiles of University of Leeds (2014-2017). He serves as a member of the International Committee of International Textiles and Costume Congress (TTCC), a member of the International Refereeing Panel for Monographs in the Ars Textrina series；

Professor Lin’s research interests cover cultural and historic aspects of design worldwide. He is particularly interested in structural features or characteristics exhibited in all forms of decorative art and design. Subject areas include symmetry, Culture and Design Theory, regular patterns and tiling, periodic design. His research perspectives are based on cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary subjects. He has extensive experience as an expert on Digital Media Art. He supervises several Master Dissertations and PhD Dissertations.
