"Golden Microphone" Award Winner Qin Chang Joins Shanghai Jiao Tong University
April 3, 2025 – Renowned media personality Qin Chang, recipient of the Yangtze River-Taofen Award and the Golden Microphone Award, and former chief host of Shanghai People's Broadcasting Station, has officially joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a professor at the School of Media and Communication.
Qin Chang, former director of Citizens and Society—a nationally acclaimed news column and award-winning Shanghai media brand—has long been at the forefront of major political and current affairs reporting. Over her 30-year career, she has remained dedicated to frontline journalism. From the 19th to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, she led her team in producing five multimedia Party lecture series, which were repeatedly recommended by the Cyberspace Administration of China for nationwide dissemination. In recent years, she has continually pushed boundaries in innovation, using diverse multimedia reporting methods to reshape public perceptions of government interviews.
Qin Chang’s appointment will significantly bolster the School of Media and Communication’s efforts in cultivating media professionals. Amid profound transformations in public opinion ecosystems, media landscapes, and communication methods, SJTU’s School of Media and Communication is proactively adapting to the times, deepening reforms in journalism education through the integration of academia and industry, theory and practice, as well as resources and platforms. The school is committed to nurturing a new generation of media professionals who are politically steadfast, professionally skilled, and ethically exemplary.
